We live in Näshulta, between the towns of Katrineholm and Eskilstuna, 150 km west of Stockholm. Our kids have left the nest and some of the rest of our life we would like to devote to handicraft. |

Nicke Helldorff I'm a teacher with outdoor education as a speciality. After 11 years as a biology teacher I have worked 15 years in the Nature school in Eskilstuna. A year on the craft school Sätergläntan was the starting point for my woodcarving. I have been interested in birds for as long as I can remember. I think that one fascination is that birds exist in the moment, a second later they can be gone. My aim is to capture that moment. From many years of ringing/tagging birds I have had the opportunity to hold and feel the birds and also make quick drawings of them. The goal is to lift the characteristic of the different species I make. The challenge is to get a sense of lightness in the wood that in the bird is represented by feathers and down. |
Eva Svensson In June 2008 I graduated from the craft school (Handarbetets Vänner) in Stockholm where I have become a craft counsellor. At the same time I started my new job at Eskilstuna folkhögskola, (Folk High school = independent adult education college) where I’m. responsible for a new 1-year education “Recycle design”. It’s the first education of it’s kind in the Nordic countries. The first group of students starts in August. The aim is to develop products of recycled material. One of my craft products is baskets made of steel wire. Some are decorated with pearls and some contains wire of brass. I sell my baskets in some shops, on markets and on demand. I also make carpets which I weave on demand. |
